Abstract

Most medical educators agreed that E-learning is a necessity nowadays but there are still nagging doubts about how it can be used in the most effective way to enhance learning and teaching (Baldwin et al., 2011). Many studies were conducted to evaluate the effectiveness of E-learning in comparison to face to face learning (Caywood & Duckett, 2003). Moreover, blended learning has emerged. Its environment has been presented as a promising alternative learning approach (Walton et al., 2005) that is capable of improving, expanding and even transforming FTF learning (López-Pérez, 2011)
Student satisfaction in blended learning is important because it can impact motivation, student success and completion rates (Abou Naaj et.al, 2012). Furthermore, obtaining feedback about students’ perceptions of blended learning environment is crucial for the successful design and implementation of the educational process (Kioumourtzoglou, 2011). Therefore, this study was conducted aiming at designing, implementing and evaluating an electronic educational course for third year medical students at the Faculty of Medicine, Suez Canal University, for further enhancement of students’ learning experiences. Results can provide a useful basis for curriculum reform in FOM SCU to cope with the new era innovation.
