Abstract Menopause is a normal, natural event defined as the final menstrual period and usually confirmed when a woman has missed her periods for 12 consecutive months -in the absence of other obvious causes-, there is an increasing appreciation for the role of sexual function after menopause and its importance for woman’s health and well-being. Many studies assumed that older women are less sexually active and have decreased sexuality, particularly after menopause, physiological changes associated with the ageing process, coupled with the increasing prevalence of medical disorders in older age, play a significant role in the pathogenesis of sexual disorders. |
