Abstract A total number of 15diseased animals (3 sheep and 12 goats) and two dead goats from two infected flocks were subjected to field diagnosis (history, general clinical examination and PM examination. A total of 21 samples (8 buffy coats, 7 oculo-nasal swabs) were collected from suspected living goats and sheep. While, the dead animals after the characteristic P.M picture of PPR was showed, 6 samples (2 spleen, 2 lungs and 2 mesenteric lymph nodes) were taken for laboratory confirmation of suspected PPR cases by ic-ELISA and RT-PCR using primers directed to the highly conserved sequence in nucleoprotein gene of PPRV. Two dead goats from infected flock in Zagazig was subjected to PM examination that revealed consolidation of lungs, Congestion and enlargement of spleen, liver and gall bladder, Congestion, enlargement and oedema of most of the lymph nodes especially mesenteric lymphnodes, erosions in mouth cavity, Congestion around the ileo-caecal valve, at the caeco-colic junction, ‘Zebra stripes’ of congestion in the posterior part of the colon. |
