Abstract

Diabetes mellitus is one of the leading causes of death worldwide. The use of stem cells is a promising method to treat this disease. there are some factors affecting the success of theiruse, the most important source of these cells. The aim of the study is to compare the stem cells derived from umbilical cord blood and bone marrow to treat diabetes materials and methods: Stem cells were isolated and induced to differentiate into insulin-secreting cells and then implanted in rat liver with diabetes mellitus. Results: Cells derived from umbilical cord blood stem cells have the ability to secrete larger amounts of c-peptide. Conclusion : The cells derived from umbilical cord blood have a greater ability to control diabetes mellitus.
