Abstract The determination of some biochemical alteration in rat blood under the effect of Aging have an important role in biotransformation and cell defense mechanism , this attributed to the most enzyme activities which declined with advanced age . Sixty male rats were selected and kept under good hygienic measurements and divided into three groups each one contains twenty rats for 1, 3 and 6 months. The blood samples were collected from medial canthus of rat eye and subjected to biochemical analysis of erythrocytic glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase , reduced glutathione ,blood superoxide dismutase ,serum gamma glutamyltransferase, glutathione peroxidase ,choline esterase in addition blood picture which include red blood cell count , packed cell volume , hemoglobin , mean corpuscular volume , mean corpuscular hemoglobin concentration , white blood cells count and platelet count. The results obtained There was a significant decrease in some enzymes (glucose-6-phosphat dehydrogenase, reduced glutathione, superoxide dismutase, glutathione peroxidase and cholinesterase)with increasing of age. While there was a significant increase in γ glutamyltransferase activity with increasing of age and The data of blood pictureshowed normocytic normochromic anemia with increasing age and highly significant decrease in packed cell volume and hemoglobin concentrationwhile a non- significant decrease in the mean values of mean corpuscular volume ,mean corpuscular hemoglobin , mean corpuscular hemoglobin concentration , white blood cells and platelet with increasing age . It can be concluded that the most enzyme activities declined under the effect of age. Thus advice to select the young animals for breeding and fattening and give attention to any stress condition. |
