Abstract

A total of 300 marine fish (100 of Argyrosomus regius ,100 of Dicentrarchus labrax and 100 of Epinephelus aeneus) collected from Mediterranean sea at Port Said. There was no pathognomonic signs in naturally infested fishes except marbling appearance of gills affected with gill monogenean and crustacean infestations. The P.M. lesions were hemorrhagic areas on gill cover and emaciation, some fishes showed isopoda in the buccal cavity with sliminess, ulcer and erosion in the area of attachment. The high infestation rate was recorded in A. regius (66%) followed by D. labrax (65%) and E. aeneus was (50%). The isolated parasites from A. regius were monogenetic trematodes (Diplectanum. sp.) and unidentified monogenea and from D. labrax were monogenetic trematodes (Diplectanum. sp.), crustacean copepods (Lernanthropus Kroyeri and Caligus minimus) and from E. aeneus were monogenetic trematodes (Pseudorhabdosynochus epinepheli and Benedenia epinepheli) and an isopoda ( Praniza larva of Gnathia pilosus sp) . Seasonal prevalence, relation between fish body weight and length and infestation rate, detection of some parasites using molecular biology (PCR) besides the histopathological picture were also recorded.
