Abstract
twin pregnancy is considered as a risk factor of preterm labor, which is responsible for the high rate of perinatal mortality and morbidity associated with this condition. The objective of this study was to evaluate the role of IM 17 α OH progesterone and oral ritodrine as maintenance tocolysis to prolong gestion of threatened preterm labor in twin pregnancy . One hundred and eight women pregnant in twins were enrolled for this study. They were divided in 2 groups. group (1) 54 pregnant women received IM 17 α OH progesterone 250mg every week till delivery or complete 37 weeks . group (2) 54 pregnant women received 17 α OH progesterone 250 mg IM injection every week till delivery or complete 37 weeks . This study showed that IM 17 α OH progesterone administration and oral riodrine has no significant value in prolongation of gestation .
