Abstract This is an interventional prospective study that was carried out on the patients attending the orthopedic outpatient clinic in Suez Canal University Hospitals in Ismailia. Twenty patients were recruited for this study; they were presented to the hospital complaining of chronic Rotator Cuff Tendinopathy. The purpose of this study was to improve the care of patients with chronic Rotator Cuff Tendinopathy. We had found the following results: Assessing the baseline data The mean age among our patients was 41.3 years old, and the male gender was the commonest 75%, additionally mean BMI was 23.4 Kg/m2, most of the studied patients were manual worker, and 80% of the affected arms were dominant arms. The mean duration of shoulder pain among studied patients was 13.2 months, and 85%, 95%, and 10% of the patients had received previous therapy in the form of steroids, physical therapy and surgery respectively. Post PRP injection data The UCLA score improved significantly among the patients along the follow up periods. VAS score improved by 90% compared to baseline, from 8.1 points before PRP injection to 4.2 points at 1 month and 2.1 points at 3 months and 1.0 point at 6 months after PRP injection. There were minor side effects of PRP after injection where 1 case showed infection at site of injection and he received local antibiotic which relieved infection, and 4 cases had blood clot due to needle causing rupture capillaries. |
