Abstract This study was focused on evaluating Three Dimensional Conformal Radiation Therapy (3DCRT) plans by different conformity indices of dose to tumor and integral dose to normal healthy tissues. One of the most objectives of radiation therapy treatment planning is to deliver maximum dose to the tumor and minimum dose to the surrounding normal tissues. This objective is the main target on the development of radiotherapy techniques (which have been progressed throughout the time from two-dimensional treatment to 3DCRT, and extended to Intensity Modulated Radiation Therapy (IMRT), and recently reached toVolumetric Modulated Arc Therapy (VMAT)) to produce the optimum treatment plan for the patient. However, owed to the economic conditions, not all centers have such advanced techniques or not all patients are well candidates to be treated by these advanced techniques, which is attributed to the prolonged time of treatment session. Some attempts have been done to simulate these advanced techniques (IMRT& VMAT) by 3DCRT to overawe the limitations mentioned above, such attempts as; Forward-Planned Multisegments (FPMS) technique, Field-in-Field (FIF) technique, Bellinzona technique and Conpas technique. In this study these four techniques have been compared from the point. |
