Abstract Medical students are exposed to many personal and academic and social stresses. Because of their nature characterized by the desire of perfection and also a result of the long and difficult medical curriculum compared to that of other faculties. The medical students are suffering also from tough competition and a lack of extra-curicular activities and financial and personal problems. All of these factors contribute to increase of the psychological stresses on them and it follows that students may suffer from some psychological and somatic symptoms , from psychiatric disorders . The stresses may also influence their academic performance and lead them to feel the desire to withdraw from their medical study. The aim of this study: To study the personal and educational stressors that the medical students are prone to , their effects on their mental health, and to compare the effect of the stresses on both the junior and the senior medical students for better improvement of the mental health of the students. |
