Abstract The present work was carried out to study the effects of Closantel at a dose (0.03 ml/kgm body weight) on immune response post vaccination rabbits against rabbit hemorrhagic disease virus (phagocytic activity, phagocytic index, serum nitric oxide level, lysozyme activity and humoral immune response). Another goal was to study histopathological changes in lymphoid organs (spleen, thymus gland and mesenteric lymph node). A total of fifteen New Zealand white rabbits of 3-4 months old and weighting about 2-2.5 kg were purchased from a private rabbit farm without previous history of rabbit haemorrhagic disease virus outbreaks or vaccination against rabbit haemorrhagic disease virus. They were housed in disinfected metal cages in well ventilated, well lightened and disinfected room. They received commercial pellet ration and clean water, and kept under observation for two week before being of the experiment. Rabbits were randomly distributed into three equal groups each of five rabbits. Each group was housed separately under hygienic measures with daily observation until the end of experiment group 1, healthy rabbits non- vaccinated and non-treated (control group). group 2, vaccinated rabbits with inactivated rabbit haemorrhagic disease virus vaccine at a dose of 0.5 ml/ rabbit subcutaneously and non treated. |
