Abstract The main objective of this study were constructed and testing a new technique for continues monitoring of soil moisture content to control and save irrigation water during drip irrigated squash crop. The Experimental study was carried out at laboratory of Agriculture Engineering department and faculty of Agriculture farm, Tanta University during 2014 to 2016. The following items show with three stages, the results to test, calibration and evaluate a new technique also applied a new control system in the field with cultivation of the squash crop, using drip irrigation system. V.1 The first stage tested the a new device The designed instrument is effective in measuring soil moisture content and can also be programmed to work as a closed circuit in pressurized irrigation network. This can help to save irrigation water by giving the necessary crop water requirements. Through the results obtained from clay, sandy and loamy , found less and highest values in clay soil is higher than each of the sandy and loamy soil and that’s why the clay soil retain water for larger amount and a longer time . The results indicated that after calibration process the different value in soil moisture content between both the standard and the new device was ±2.08 %. V.2 The second stage tested the control system in clay, sandy and loamy soils conditions |
