Abstract A !though there is evidence produced m vitro for an human tumors including of on effective in vivo immunological reactivity against breast carcinoma. The existence antitumor response is still a matter of debate. (R. D. Leek, /996) The histological demonstration of lymphocytic infiltration in breast carcinoma has been interrupted as an indication of the host’s effmt to resist tumor growth. The result of investigation regarding the prognostic value of breast cancer infiltrating lymphocytes were controversial. Whereas some authors were able to correlate lymphoid infiltrates to more favorable clinical cot1rse of carcinoma. Others could not confirm this. (R. D. Leek, 1996) This study was designed to study relationship between central necrosis & macrophage infiltration in both node negative, node positive patient & patient survival as possible prognostic indicator. This cohort study will be conducted on 40 patient with node (ve), (+vc) breast cancer in Ai1i Shams university hospital the results of this study showed that there is significant association between macrophage infiltration ( M I ) and patient relapse in both lymph node (+ve) & (-ve) were p < 0.001 when Ml > 12 HPF as an independent prognostic variable . These data indicate a role for. macrophage iri prognosis of cancer breast ai1d that this cell type may represent an important target for immunoinhibitory therapy in breast cancer. The results also showed no significant difference between ( M I ) & . Age of patients, pathological type & tumor grading asP= 0.29 ’ P= 0.40 ’ P= 0.06 respectively. While there was a significant positive conelation between high M I & tumor size > 2 em P < 0.001 & also Positive significant Conelation between (+ve) L.M & high M 1 P = 0.003 . The results also showed comparison of central necrosis with other prognostic Variables. Central necrosis compared to other patients and tumor variable including age, tumor size, tumor grading, Ml and pathological type, no significant associations were evident. Also Ill this results there is positive significant associations between the presence of necrosis and node status p = 0.03. The result also showed companson between patients relapse with other prognostic variables a number of significant associations were observed including: - Positive association between lymph node status & patient relapse ( P < 0.00 I ). And patient relapse to tumor size P = 0.004. There is no significant difference between tumor !:,Tfading and aged of patients to patient relapse |
