Abstract

Three field experiments were carried out at Sakha Agriculture Research Station Farm, Agric. Res. Center during 2014 and 2015 summer seasons. This investigation aimed to study the effect of sowing dates, phosphor fertilizer levels on seed yield, its components and germination characters of three genotypes of soybean. Three separate field experiments was conducted, encompassed twenty-seven treatments settled in a split plot design, with three replications. These treatments were the combination of the three soybean cultivars i.e. Giza 22, Giza 111 and Crawford which arranged in the main plots and three phosphorus fertilizer levels i.e. 0 Kg/fed, 15.5 Kg/fed and 31 Kg/fed were arranged in the sub plots. Combined analysis was done between three sowing dates i.e. First-May, mid-May and End-May to obtain on the mean effect of sowing dates. The referent examination of seed germination and seedling characters was conducted in seed lab, at Agronomy Dept. The results clearly indicated that plant height, stem diameter, number of branches/plant, number of seeds/pod, 1000-seed weight, seed yield (kg/fed), mean germination time, coefficient of velocity, shoot length, root length, shoot fresh weight, shoot dry weight and root dry weight significantly affected by different phosphorus fertilization rates. The results indicated that number of pods/plant significantly affected by different phosphorus fertilization rates only in 2014 season. However, germination percentage, energy of germination, percentage of dead seed and root fresh weight were in significantly affected due to phosphorus fertilization rates. The results indicated that plant height, number of branches/plant, number of seeds/pod, seed yield (kg/fed), mean germination time, coefficient of velocity, shoot length, shoot fresh weight and root fresh weight significantly influenced by the interaction between sowing dates and studied cultivars. However, the interaction between sowing dates and cultivars insignificantly affected stem diameter, number of pods/plant, 1000 seed weight, germination percentage, energy of germination, dead seed percentage, root length shoots dry weight and root dry weight. The results showed that the tallest plants and maximum number of branches/plant, number of seeds/pod, seed yield (kg/fed) were produced from sown Crawford cultivar on first May.The interaction between sowing dates and phosphorus fertilization rates significantly affected number of branches/plant, number of pods/plant, number of seeds/pod, seed yield (kg/fed), energy of germination, coefficient velocity percentage, root length and root fresh weight. However, plant height, stem diameter, 1000 seed weight, germination percentage, energy of germination, percentage of dead seed, shoot length, shoot fresh weight, shoot dry weight and root dry weight insignificantly effected. The results revealed that the highest number of branches/plant, number of pods/plant, number of seeds/pod, seed yield, energy of germination, coefficient velocity percentage, root length and root fresh weight were produced from sown on first May and fertilization with phosphorus at a rate of 31 kg P2O5/fed. The results indicated that the interaction between cultivars and phosphorus fertilization rates significantly affected 1000 seed weight, germination percentage, percentage of dead seed, shoot length, root length, shoot fresh weight and shoot dry weight. However, plant height, stem diameter, number of branches/plant, number of pods/plant, number of seeds/pod, seed yield, energy of germination, mean germination time, coefficient of velocity, root fresh weight and root dry weight insignificantly affected.from obtained results it could be concluded that to maximized seed yield/fed, seed viability and seedling characters could be obtained from sown Giza 111 cultivar when down on first May and fertilizing with phosphorus at a rate of 31 kg P2O5/fed.
