Abstract This research is related to the preparation of some polyaniline derivatives (poly-ethyl aniline, poly n, n-diethyl aniline and poly n-benzyl, n-ethyl aniline) by the cyclic voltammetry and chronopotentiometry methods on the surface of N80 carbon steel as protection against corrosion. A literature survey of the researches that covered some of the methods and measurements used to protect the carbon steel N80 from corrosion in different acidic media and sodium chloride solution using some conductive polymers, in addition to a literature survey of the use of some polymers connected with elements such as iron as protection for corrosion were included. Composition of N80 carbon steel used in the study and the methods used to prepare the polyaniline derivatives used in electropolymerization methods cyclic voltammetry and chronopotentiometry. The polymers formed were investigated and identified by using infrared and scanning electron microscopy. The N80 carbon steel electrodes and the electrical cell were prepared and different solutions were prepared from the monomers under investigation in the oxalic acid solution after removal of the soluble oxygen from the solution and then the protection of the corrosion of N80 carbon steel in both 0.5 M solution of hydrochloric acid and 3.5% sodium chloride solution was studied. The rate of corrosion was measured using different electrochemical methods such as potentiodynamic polarization and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy. The methods of conducting experiments and methods of calculations were also explained. |
