Abstract

The experimental work of the present study was carried out at the Rabbits Production Unit, Agricultural Research and Experimental Station, Faculty of Agriculture, Mansoura University, while, the chemical analysis for experimental diets and faces and blood constituents were run at the laboratory of Regional Center for Food and Feed, Agriculture Research Center, Cairo, Egypt. An experiment (3×4) was conducted with factorial arrangement of treatments. Three basal diets were used in this study; the first containing 5% corn (A1), the second one contained 10% corn (A2) and the third one contained 15% corn (A3).
Three levels of yellow corn were used without or with enzymes or prebiotics or both. Thus, twelve experimental rations were formulated and used as follow:
T1= experimental basal diet A1, T2= experimental basal diet A1 +0.05% enzyme , T3= experimental basal diet A1 +0.05% prebiotic , T4= experimental basal diet A1 + 0.05% enzyme + 0.05% prebiotic , T5= experimental basal diet A2 , T6= experimental basal diet A2 +0.05% , enzyme , T7= experimental basal diet A2 +0.05% prebiotic , T8= experimental basal diet A2 + 0.05% enzyme + 0.05% prebiotic , T9= experimental basal diet A3 , T10= experimental basal diet A3 +0.05% enzyme , T11= experimental basal diet A3+0.05% prebiotic and T12= experimental basal diet A3 + 0.05% enzyme + 0.05% prebiotic.
In conclusion, using corn in partially replacement of barley had no negative effect on growth performance without any supplements. Both starch level and source did not effect on carcass and dressing percent of the growing rabbits. The nutritive value of diets for growing rabbits can increase by supplementing enzymes plus prebiotics. The present study showed that feeding growing rabbits on diets contained 15 % yellow corn without supplements or feeding on diets contained 10 % yellow corn with enzymes and prebiotics were suitable for growth performance and economic efficiency.
