Abstract Newsday’s, the trend has been toward to use RESs such as solar, wind power and hydropower which have wonderful advantages. They do not cause environmental pollution and thermally polluted or radiation. This types of sources are suitable for remote places application which depended on natural inputs and this natural inputs are available at any places. This research presents the basic concepts about green electricity and how to use these types of energy sources to supply the demand of energy in new remote cities, and how to connect these sources with grid by different techniques to get high value of reliability of system. The research takes new Borg El Arab city as a case of study. First, long-term load forecasting is presented to know the peak load demand development of new Borg El-Arab city up to year 2035. Extrapolation of trend curves technique is applied as a conventional technique as well as GA and PSO techniques are applied as modern techniques to obtain possible more accurate results for load forecasting. Second, optimal design hybrid PV/WIND farm generation is presented to supply Borg El Arab city load using the optimization techniques to choice the different types of WTG and PV modules according to technical and economical sides to know the optimal type which use to design the hybrid farm. Third, proposed three scenarios to design the hybrid farm are presented and makes a comparison between these scenarios to choice the best scenario for consumer according to technical and economical sides. Finally, the reliability is studied for the best scenario and know the values of energy that not supplied and energy surplus which provide the high level of reliability of the system. |
