Abstract Background: Females’ genital mutilation (FGM) is one of the harmful traditional practices affecting the health of women and children. It has a long-term physiological, sexual and psychological effect on women. Aim of the work: The aim of this work was to evaluate the magnitude and sexual effects of FGM on Fayoum city females. Patient and Methods: This was a cross-sectional study. Representative samples were selected randomly from married females visiting outpatient clinics of Dermatology STDs and Andrology fayoum university, Family Medicine clinic of Faculty of medicine Fayoum University, PHC center (Urban center of El-Hadqah) and Heath Insurance clinics in Fayoum city during the period from March 2016 to July 2016. The overall sample consisted of 518 women. An interview was utilized to collect the necessary data. The questionnaire was administered face to face, in Arabic language. |
