Abstract Cancer is a major public health threatening disease in developed countries and is still one of the most serious causes of death worldwide with no major progress in reducing its morbidity and mortality. Chemotherapeutic agents are medications that destroy dividing cancer cells by targeting different phases in the cancer cell’s life cycle, such as bleomycin. Chemotherapy is designed to rapidly killing the divided cancer cells within the body. The use of AGE to improve the side effects of BLM and EACs. The pharmacological studies on bleomycin as cancer therapy and protective effect of Aged Garlic Extract is done in Eighty mature male albino mice were divided into 8 groups (each ten mice), The animal were divided into eight equal groups as following : 1st First group (non-treated): Control group. 2nd Second group (BLM): The mice in this group were treated with bleomycin (15 mg/kg b.wt.) I/P once daily for 8 successive days . 3rd Third group (AGE): The mice in this group were treated with AGE (2 gm/kg b.wt.) dosed by stomach lavage once daily for 8 successive days . 4th Fourth group (EAC): Inoculated with Ehrlich ascites carcinoma (EAC) cells only, the mice in this group were inoculated I/P with (EAC) 2.5x106 tumor cells for ascites producing then kept and noted for 8 successive days. 5th Fifth group (EAC+AGE): The mice in this group was inoculated I/P with (EAC) and dose by AGE (2 gm/kg b.wt.) by stomach lavage at the same moment for 8 successive days. |
