This study examines the position of the United States of America on the independence of Sudan, the real role of the United States of America in South Sudan, its role in fueling differences between Egypt and Sudan, and American intervention in Sudan’s internal problems.
This study is based on a variety of unpublished documents, as well as published documents such as British Foreign Documents, US Foreign Documents, Arabic and Foreign Letters, Arabic and Arabic References, Foreign References, .
The study found the following results:
- The United States of America was not initially mobilized in the Sudan issue independently, whether Sudan obtained its independence or entered the Egyptian crown, but was placed within the framework of US policy towards Egypt, and try to drag it to projects defending the Middle East.
- Since the Sudanese government rejected the Eisenhower 1957 principle under popular pressure, the United States has sought to strengthen its presence in Sudan and isolate Sudan from Egypt by all means.
- Aboud’s regime has established a strong political alliance with the United States and has cooperated with it in many aspects of its policy towards Africa.
-The United States of America has not been concerned with the problem of southern Sudan as much as it wanted to strengthen its influence in the Sudan in general, to ensure its presence in Africa on the one hand, encircling Egypt on the other hand, and then the United States did not care much about the military actions of Abbud against Southerners during the study period.
