Abstract

Peak pressure gradient(PPG) across PV, RV free wall thickness, basal RV dimension & the mid RV dimensions significantly decreased after BPV, while longitudinal RV dimension significantly increased.
FAC, TAPSE & RV function measured by 3D echocardiography significantly increased after BPV.
End diastolic& end systolic RV volumes measured by 2D& 3D echocardiography showed a slight increased without a significant P value.
When we compared 2D measurements with 3D measurements we found that before & after BPV, EDV measured by 2D echocardiography was lower than EDV measured by 3D echocardiography. We also found that before BPV, ESV measured by 2D echocardiography was lower than ESV measured by 3D echocardiography while after BPV ESV measured by 2D echocardiography was higher than ESV measured by 3D echocardiography. However, these results were of insignificant P values.
Tyshak balloons were used in 70% of the cases while Zmed balloons were used in 30%. The transvalvular pressure pull back across PV dropped immediately after performing BPV. Early restenosis was detected in 6% of the cases recorded by Doppler echocardiography after BPV.
There was a significant negative correlation between the percentage of change in both PPG measured by Doppler echocardiography & FAC, while there was a significant positive correlation between the percentage of change in both RV function measured by 3D echocardiography & FAC.
We also performed a stepwise multiple regression analysis and found that the percentage of change in EDV by 3D echocardiography was an independent predictor of the percentage of change in PPG across PV measured by Doppler echocardiography with a P value of 0.039.
