Abstract

Pulsed radiofrequency root modulation is a minimally invasive technique used in relieving the neurogenic pain caused by chronic lumbar radiculopathy as in cases of minimal disc prolapse, degenerative spondylolisthesis, chronic lumbar radiculopathy in patients previously operated by lumbar surgery by neuro-modulation of the dorsal root ganglion.
Our study was conducted over 40 patients in Alexandria main University Hospital over 3 months.
There was statistical significant differences between the VAS values at 3 months statistically lower than preoperative.
Patient satisfaction (analgesic dose decrease) was found in most of the studied patients 23 (57.5%).
As regard complication, no complications were observed by that technique.
This method has advantage of using local anathesia, short hospital stay, effective management if selection criteria included.
We must not forget that it’s a method used to relief the pain not to treat the pathology.
