Abstract The three-way ANOVA showed that adhesive system, dentin substrate, storage media and the interaction between the three variables were statistically significant. Results revealed that there was no statistically significant difference between Adper Scotchbond Multipurpose and Clearfil SE Bond adhesive systems. Scotchbond Universal Adhesive system showed statistically significant lower micro-shear bond strength compared to the other two adhesives. Regarding the effect of dentin substrate, bonding to caries-affected dentin was lower than that to normal dentin for all tested groups. While for the storage conditions, Acetyl-cholinestrase enzyme significantly affect the bond strength of all tested adhesives to both normal and caries-affected dentin. Failure modes analysis by scanning electron microscope revealed that, for Adper Scotchbond Multipurpose and Clearfil SE Bond adhesive systems, the most predominant modes of failure were adhesive and mixed ones, while for Scotchbond Universal Adhesive system, cohesive failure was the most predominant. |
