Abstract

Chronic kidney disease (CKD) describes abnormal kidney function and/or structure. It is common, frequently unrecognized and often exists together with other conditions (such as cardiovascular disease and diabetes). Moderate to severe CKD is also associated with an increased risk of other significant adverse outcomes. Skin disorders associated with chronic kidney disease (CKD) can markedly affect a patient’s quality of life and can negatively impact their mental and physical health. Uremic pruritus, which is frequently encountered in patients with CKD, is considered to be an inflammatory systemic disease rather than a local skin disorder This study aimed to, screening study of pruritus in hemodialysis patients, study the relationship between Calcium, Phosphorous and Parathyroid hormone to pruritus also study, the relationship between pruritus and HCV in hemodialysis patients. Study Design: This is an observational multicenter cross sectional study that was conducted at Internal Medicine department in Mansoura University Hospital, Talkha general hospital, and Tmy-Elamded general hospital. The study was carried out over the period of one year from April 2015 to March 2016. The study included 150 ESRD (end-stage renal disease) patients on regular hemodialysis (HD) chronic kidney disease (CKD)-associated pruritus is a common adverse symptom inpatient with end-stage renal disease treated by dialysis. OCI has no effect on pruritus among hemodialysis patients when compared to HCV infected patients. The results of linear Multivariate regression analysis the prediction model showed that the most significant predictor for pruritic score are serum phosphorus, and Kt/v, and high sensitive CRP respectively.
