Abstract Levofloxacin is a member of fluroquinolone agents. It has a wide spread use in both human and veterinary medicine for treating urinary tract ,respiratory tract and gastrointestinal tract infections . The present study was conducted to evaluate the effects of levofloxacin on pregnant rats and their developing foeti during the gestation period . Effects on dams and developing foeti: Levofloxacin was orally administered in its therapeutic dose; 7.5 mg/kg. b wt. Thirty two pregnant rats were classified into four equal groups each group eight rats. The first group was left untreated considered as a control. The second group was given the drug on the 1st day of pregnancy till reach 6th day of pregnancy period. The third group was given the drug on the 7th day of pregnancy till reach 12th day of pregnancy period. The fourth group was given the drug on the 13th day of pregnancy till reach 18 day of pregnancy period.
