Abstract One hundred quarter milk samples from all quarters of 25 cows with apparently healthy udders were collected aseptically from dairy cows in Sohag city, Egypt, for detection of subclinical mastitis using Strip cup test, California mastitis test (CMT) and White side test (WST), chemical and bacteriological examination. It was found that none of Strip cup test was positive, while result of CMT revealed that 53% out of the examined milk samples were positive and 47% were negative. Among the CMT positive samples, the obtained results showed that 5 quarters , 13, 29 and 6 had degrees +++, ++, + and ,respectively. The result of WST revealed that 49% out of the examined milk samples was positive while the rest was negative. Among the WST positive samples, the results were 2 quarters (4.08%) showed degree (+++),11 ones (22.45%) showed degree (++) and 36 ones (73.47%) showed degree (+), respectively. Koestler number results were reported as follow, (42%), (25%) and (33%) of quarters milk samples were normal, suspected and mastitic respectively. The isolated micro-organisms from the examined milk samples were Staph. aureus (64.10%),Strept. agalactiae (28.21%) and E.coli (7.69%)out of 39 bacterial isolates. |
