Abstract The present study was done in 2015/216 and 2016/2017 seasons to investigate the effect of silicon, glutamic acids and selenium on the yield and fruit quality of Williams banana plants. A banana plantation grown under Minia Governorate conditions was subjected to the following treatments Control, potassium silicate at250 and 500ppm, glutamic acid at50 and 100ppm, selenium at50 and 100ppm, Potassium silicate 250 ppm+glutamic acid 50ppm, Potassium silicate 250ppm+selenium 50ppm, Selenium 50ppm+glutamic acid 50ppm, Potassium silicate 250ppm+selenium and glutamic acid each at50ppm. Plants were sprayed at mid April,May,June and July annually. The experiment was set in(CRBD). The yield data were as follows:- Bunch weight of treatments was over the control.Glutamic acid was more effective than the rest treatments. All treatments improved fruit quality. Increasing the yield and improving fruit quality of Williams banana plants by spraying glutamic acid plus selenium each at 50 ppm, under the experimental conditions and resembling regions. |
