Abstract

Summary
This present study aimed to detect the expression of long non coding RNA in psoriatic skin of diseased patients as compared to normal control persons to investigate the possible role of long non coding RNA in the pathogenesis of this disease.
It was a case-control study conducted in dermatology outpatient clinic at Beni-Suef University hospital during the period from (10 November 2017) to (1 April 2018). The study included 60 individuals; 30 as psoriasis cases selected randomly from the dermatology outpatient clinic according to the inclusion and exclusion criteria, and 30 matched controls.
All the sixty individuals included in the study was subjected to a written informed consent for participation in the study, detailed history taking, clinical assessment to determine type, extent and sites of Psoriasis. Then all participants underwent four mm punch skin biopsy from patients (psoriasis lesion) & control and, it was kept in lysis solution for the stability of the studied parameters and kept frozen at -80 Celsius till analysis of PRINS by real time -PCR.
The collected data were coded then entered and analyzed taking three months using the SPSS version 22.
The study revealed that the average patient age was 48.20 ±11.50 (SD) years and gender distribution as 33.3% of patients were females and 66.7% were males with no statistically significant difference between cases and control groups regarding age and sex. The analysis of Long Non Coding RNA expression values in the punch skin biopsy from our studied population (patients with psoriasis lesion & control skin) reveled that; the level of Long Non Coding RNA values were significantly higher among patients with psoriasis as compared with normal control where the level was (4.71 ±1.8 vs. 1.03 ±0.1) in psoriatic patients and controls respectively with a significant p-value <0.001.
