Abstract

The study concluded that LV diastolic dysfunction, subclinical LV systolic dysfunction as well as changes in LV and LA geometry are highly prominent in DM patients.
The final conclusion is that Speckle tracking echocardiography (STE) is a useful echocardiographic tool recommended in DM patients to point out patients with increased probability of cardiac affection in whom earlier and more aggressive intervention may have a significant impact on prognosis.
There were significant correlation between ACR and worsening average GLS in type 2 DM patients with albuminuria.this denotes that once the patients with type 2 DM commences to develop albuminuria (one of the microvascular complication involving the kidneys) progressive myocardial involvement (i.e. diabetic cardiomyopathy) occurs.the more the albuminuria the more reduction in systolic functions assessed by GLS.
