Abstract Dilated cardiomyopathy (DCMP) is the third most common cause of heart failure.Vitamin D deficiency is highly prevalent in heart failure (HF) patients. The aim of this study is to evaluate the impact of vitamin D supplementation on clinical out come in patients with Dilated Cardiomyopathy. This study included 88 patients who have been diagnosed to be dilated cardiomyopathy patients who were follow up at Al-Minya University hospital cardiology department and those patients were supplied by vitamin D in addition to anti failure treatment during period from August 2016 to April 2017. All patients in this study were subjected to: History taking and clinical examination. Electrocardiogram. Echocardiographic assessment was done to the patient (Left ventricular systolic function will be calculated using biplane Simpson method from apical four-chamber and two chamber viewsand M.Mode Method. And diastolic dysfunction). All patients were received anti failure treatment (Dieuretic,ACEI,Spirinolactone,Beta Blockers) in addition to vitamin D supplementation. Laboratory investigations. This study demonstrated that vitamin D supplementation improved clinical out come in dilated cardiomyopathy patients through improvement of functional capacity, decrease rate of hospital admisions of those patients after serum vitamin D level increased in those patients after supplementation. Finally, we proved that vitamin D supplementation improves clinical out come in dilated cardiomyopathy patients. |
