Abstract

This study aims to introduce a model that contributes in minimizing the failure factors of the implementation of Enterprise Resource Planning systems (ERP). The research model examines the effect of applying the agile approach principles on the success of ERP systems implementation. In addition, this study examines the impact of Organizational fit of ERP when applying the agile approach in ERP implementation projects. Empirical data were collected via a survey questionnaire. A number of ERP users from different business sectors in Egypt participated in this survey. The survey screening process provided 170 usable responses for statistical analysis. Using Smart PLS, the researcher determined the validity and reliability of the items. The results indicated that, 77% of the variance in ERP implementation success could be explained by three independent variables; User Involvement, effective Project Management, Business Process Reengineering; which represented the Critical Success Factors that matched with the agile approach principles. The research results yielded to, both of User Involvement and effective Project Management are significantly support the success of ERP implantation projects, and “organizational fit of ERP” has a positive impact as a moderator factor when applying agile approach principles in ERP implementation projects. An important contribution of this study is to identify agile approach principles in light of common CSFs of ERP implementation, which make them easier to be applied and measured in both academic and practical areas.
