Abstract

Statement of problem : The resilient soft liners for bar clip framework offer more retention, which is diminished after multiple insertions, was still greater than with bar and clips. Purpose: This in-vitro study was performed to evaluate the time factor of resilient soft liner as related to retentive force for mandibular implant overdenture at (zero time, after 15 days, 30 days, 45 days, 60days and after 90days).Materials and Methods: This in-vitro study was carried out on acrylic model representing mandibular complete edentulous and ridge covered by auto-polymerzied soft liner material. Two implants were installed into canines regions bilateral in acrylic model were connected by round bar attachment. Three mandibular overdentures were that constructed and lined with Molloplast-B heat cure soft liner bar clip. The retention test for mandibular implant overdentures were measured by using a Digital Force-meter devise attempt to dislodge mandibular implant overdentures as done in paraxial direction and no attempt to dislodge it in vertical direction according to the time at (zero time, after 15 days, 30 days, 45days and after 90days) after kept the mandibular overdentures moist in normal saline. Then final data was collected and statistically analyzed. Results: Results of this in vitro study demonstrated that; high significant difference at 5% level of significance between time factor at all times of testing retention and it was high significant at 45 days (1.82 N) and it was negatively correlated with time (R= -0.35) at 5% level demonstrated that; the retentive force of resilient soft liner bar clip was still active up to 90 days. Conclusions: Resilient soft liner bar clip acting as bar framework to optimize mandibular implant overdenture retention and is promise in retention of mandibular implant overdenture.
