Abstract : Conclusion Amniotic membrane transplantation procedure offers a cheap and safe line of treatment in resistant corneal ulcers, with short learning curve, limited needs of surgical instruments, and surgical facilities, large safety margin, very minimal risk of rejection and short follow up period. AMT procedure is also applicable in large scale of resistant corneal ulcers of different etiologies with a significant rate of success and very minimal side effects, so amniotic membrane transplantation should be the first choice in surgical management because it seems to be a useful adjunctive procedure for the management of resistant corneal ulcer by promoting wound healing and reducing inflammation and also may improve the prognosis of corneal graft in eyes with risk of epithelial healing problems. |
