Abstract Objective : To evaluate the concept of lesion Sterilization and Tissue Repair Therapy (L.S.T.R.) clinically and radiographically in primary molars indicated for pulpectomy at completely formed roots and open apecies due to root resorption. Methods : Children, with age ranging from 3-9 years-old were selected from the clinic of Pediatric Dentistry, Department at Faculty of Dentistry, Mansoura University. The selected children (135) were classified randomly into three equal main groups according to the material used and root canal preparation. group I (control) treated with conventional root canal preparation and calcium hydroxide -iodoform paste and group II and III (experimental groups) treated with 3-Mix paste, and calcium hydroxide - iodoform paste respectively, but without root canal preparation. Each main group was subdivided equally into three subgroups according to amount of root resorption. Clinical and radiographic follow up was carried out for each patient at one week, 1 , 3, 6, 9, and 12 months, postoperative recall visits. Results : No significant difference was found between three studied groups clinically or radiographically. Conclusion : 3-Mix can be used in endodontic treatment of infected primary molars with closed and open apices .Teeth with complete or semi complete roots have better prognosis than teeth with root resorption. |
