Abstract Six healthy completely edentulous male patients were selected for this study. Each patient received four implants in the mandible. The patients were randomly classified according to posterior implants angulation into two equal groups, Group(A) received for parallel implants in canine and 1st molar region and Group(B) received two parallel implants in the canine area and two posteriorly 30° tilted implants in the second premolar area. Group(A) received bar-clip attachment while Group(B) received fixed screw retained prosthesis. Masticatory efficiency and maximum bite force were evaluated using unmixed two colored chewing gums and digital bite force transducer respectively. Evaluations were performed before implant insertion (Tc), at time of implant overdenture insertion (T0), 3 months (T3) and 6 months (T6)after insertion.Anterior maxillary alveolar ridge resorption was evaluated through proportional measurement of anterior area index evaluation. Evaluations were performed at time of insertion (T0) and 2 years (T24) after insertion. Results :UF significantly decreased when the number of chewing strokes increased , also after implant insertion and with advance time. Both groups showed non significant difference at all observation periods MBF values insignificantly increase with advance of time. Values between the 2 groups at different observation times showed non significant difference. |
