Abstract

Two field experiments were conducted during 2016/2017 and 2017/2018 growing seasons at the Experimental Farm of the Faculty of Agriculture, a Demo, Fayoum University, Fayoum . The experiments were carried out to study study the effect of row spacing, weed control treatments and their interaction on wheat (Triticum aestivum, L.) and associated weeds. The experimental design was split-split plot arrangement in randomized complete block design with three replications.
All applied weed control treatments significantly decreased dry weight of broad- leaved weed, grassy-leaved weeds and total weeds than the unweeded control treatment.
Weeding treatments improved wheat plant height, yield and yield components over the unweeding one. The reduction in weed infestation, i . e . less weed interference against wheat plants, achieved by the weeded treatments may be responsible for the recorded improvement in the crop growth and as a result in yield increases.
Planting wheat in row spacing 15 cm caused 3.97% and 16.08% increases in grain yield (ton/fed.) over the lowest yielding row spacing, i. e. 25 cm in the first and second season, respectively .
Planting wheat in row spacing 15 cm caused 3.97% and 16.08 % Increases in grain yield (ton/fed.) over the lowest yielding row spacing, i. e. 25 cm in the first and second season, respectively .
The highest values of grain yield (ton/fed) were obtained from treated wheat plants with Granstar + Topic (3.81 and 4.22 t/fed.) in the first and second seasons, respectively . While the lowest grain yield were obtained from wheat plants growing without weed control treatment
(unweeded ) the data in this concern was (2.00 and 2.10 t ) in the first and second seasons, respectively.
It can be concluded that planting wheat in row spacing 15 cm and using Granstar at the rate 8 g/ feddan + Topik at the rate 140/feddan in order to maximize its productivity under the environmental conditions of Fayoum Governorate .
