Abstract Septic shock is one of the most complex hemodynamic failure syndromes. Affected patients have high rates of death, complications, and resource utilization.Protocolized delivery of 6 hours of early, goal-directed therapy (EGDT) to patients presenting to the emergency department with early septic shock has been showed to reduce hospital mortality and hospital stay. The use of ECHO as hemodynamic monitoring tool has already been validated in populations of septic shock patients, with recent indices of volume responsiveness. This study was done to compare between Transthoracic Echocardiography findings as end point of resuscitation in septic shock patients and ordinary early-goal directed therapy. This prospective randomized study was carried out in Tanta University Emergency Hospital. The study was carried out from April 2016 to April 2017 on sixty patients presented with hypotension (MAP less than 65 mmHg) and hyperlactatemia (serum lactate above 2 mmol/L) in intensive care unit (ICU). A written informed consent was obtained from relatives of patients who received an explanation to the purpose of the study and each patient had a secret code number to ensure privacy to participants and confidentiality of data. |
