Abstract

This is study was conducted in outpatient clinic of Beni-Suef University hospital and chest hospital in Beni-Suef , the study was done from December 2017 to September 2018.
The aim of this study is to estimate and evaluate the effect of Pulmonary Rehabilitation program in improving symptoms , decreasing breathlessness and improving the quality of life in COPD patients .
Every selected COPD patient was submitted to:
1. Full history taking
2. Full clinical examination.
3. Investigation including (CBC , kidney and liver functions, lipid profile , Fasting & 2 hours post prandial blood glucose.)
4. Radiological examinations: Chest x- ray
5. Spirometry pre and post bronchodilator.
6. Arterial blood gases
7. 6-minute walk test
8. Pulmonary Rehabilitation Program ( Exercise , education , nutrition and Psychosocial support ).
Results were statistically analyzed:
As regard Pulmonary Function Test (PFT) there was no statistical significant difference in FEV1 pre and post Rehabilitation, but there was statistical significant difference in (FEV1%F, FVC and FEF) pre and post Rehabilitation.
Regarding arterial blood gases (ABG ) there was statistical significant difference in ( PH , Pao2 , PCO2 and O2 mood) ,but there was no statistical significant difference in Hco3 pre and post Rehabilitation .
Regarding 6MWT there was statistical significant difference pre and post Rehabilitation.
As regard mMRC dysnea scale there was statistical significant difference pre and post Rehabilitation.
Pulmonary Rehabilitation seems to be effective in decreasing COPD symptoms and improving exercise capacity, dyspnea score and quality of life in COPD patients.
