Abstract
Nowadays the entire world specially developing nations are not only seeking environmentally friendly structures like green buildings, but also focusing on many strategies to arise constructions which meet the optimum level of energy efficient strategy, environmentally friendly building and the occupants’ satisfaction. This paper introduces the high performance buildings idea, which is considered the motivation beyond the green building concept. These building structures not only save energy, water and engaged healthy materials, they also produce high level of comfort, achieve healthier indoor air quality, provide greater access to natural light and enhance the sense of well being and connectivity of occupant in general by providing more pleasant working and living spaces. The study then illustrates the design principles that a high performance building (HPB) should be in accordance with, to reach a high level of performance. In addition, focusing on the design objectives and benefits of high performance buildings, and showing the relationship between them. The research afterword analyzed and discussed the high performance building guidelines, accompanied by the strategies and techniques which are undertaken to address these environmentally and energy efficient buildings.
