Abstract
This cross sectional comparative study was carried out in the Nephrology clinic, Children’s hospital, Mansoura University in the period from December 2016 to December 2018.We enrolled 200 children, 100 patients with NS recruited from the pediatric Nephrology clinic, Mansoura University Children’s Hospital and 100 age- and sex-matched healthy children recruited from the general outpatient clinics coming for mild diseases upper respiratory tract diseases and gastroenteritis (control group). group 1 included 100 patients with NS; 66 males and 34 females with age ranged from 1 to 17 years. group 2 (Control) included 100 healthy age- and sex-matched children (57 males and 43 females). Their age ranged from 2 up to 14 years.Patients were subjected to detailed history taking and thorough clinical examination. Stool samples were collected from all subjects and screened for the presence of gastric H. pylori infection using H. pylori stool antigen test (HpSA). This study revealed a higher prevalence of H. pylori infection among NS patients (44%) than in control children (35%) (44/100 children with NS versus 35/100 control children). However, there was no statistically significant difference between the two groups.
