Abstract The present study was carried out to investigate the anti-diabetic effect of mulberry leaves and mulberry leaves with metformin on STZ and NA induced diabetic rats [in a rat model of type 2 diabetes (T2D)]. Fifty male albino rats, three months old were allocated into five equal groups each of ten rats. Induction of diabetes mellitus type II: The rats received a single intraperitoneal injection of streptozotocin (STZ) (55 mg/kg body weight) 15 minutes after the administration of nicotinamide (110 mg/kg body weight) intraperitoneally. Control group (Negative control): Rats received 1ml normal saline orally once daily for 21days. Diabetic group: The rats received a single intraperitoneal injection ofstreptozotocin (STZ) (55 mg/kg body weight) 15 minutes after the administration of nicotinamide (110 mg/kg body weight) intraperitoneally. |
