Abstract

In this study, 18 surgical sites in 18 patients were planned to receive dental implants (AnyOne, MegaGen Implant system, Korea) in periodontally involved teeth sockets. 9 implants were placed with osteosynthesis microplates in concomitant with mineralized freeze-dried bone allograft and collagen membrane and the other 9 implants were placed with FDBA and collagen membrane without the use of osteosynthesis microplates. Clinical and radiographic evaluations were performed. Clinical evaluation included; plaque index [PI], papillary bleeding index [PBI], probing pocket depth [PPD], clinical attachment level [CAL] and dental implant stability [DES]. Radiographic evaluation was done by CBCT for detecting facial bone thickness [FBT] and facial bone density [FPD]. Data were collected and statistically analyzed using unpaired t-test to compare the two groups using SPSS version 23. The purpose of this study was to evaluate clinically and radiographically the success of dental implants with or without using osteosynthesis titanium microplates in replacement of periodontally involved teeth. There statistical significant difference for the favor of the group used the osteosynthesis microplates in both items; implant stability [DES] by ISQ value, facial bone thickness [FBT] and facial bone density [FPD] with (P < 0.05). The other clinical parameters or [PI], [PBI], [PPD], and [CAL] were non-statistically significant. Based on the limitation of the results of the present study, it was concluded that :- 1. The use of osteosynthesis microplates enhanced a lot the stability of the bone graft materials and the collagen membrane aiding in successful GBR procedure 2. Osteosynthesis microplates stabilized the dental implants aiding in enhancing the dental implant stability in items of ISQ values. 3. Enhanced bone density and facial bone thickness occurred when the use of osteosynthesis microplates in concomitant with GBR in immediate implant placement.
