Abstract

Nursing demonstrators play a vital role in nursing students’ clinical education, as they guide students in the transition from dependent student to independent professional and work with senior practitioners who can model appropriate behavior and attitude. Moreover, nursing demonstrators help to develop the affective skills in nursing students related to becoming professional nurse including communication skills and social behavior. Therefore, nursing demonstrators should have the mastery of personal characteristics and high level of caring behaviors emotionally, behaviorally, physically and intellectual for all students. Undoubtedly, nursing demonstrator’s enjoyments in teaching and their supportive behavior for students in classroom have positive impact on students’ academic engagement and establish positive student - demonstrator relationship. So, the present study aimed to study the caring behavior of nursing demonstrators and students’ academic engagement. Descriptive research design was used in the present study. The study subjects included 583 nursing students randomly selected as representative sample of 35% of all academic year at Tanta University, Faculty of Nursing in first semester 2017-2018.
