Abstract

In this study, an attempt was made to produce antitumor agent(s)
from marine bacteria. Physiological adaptation was performed to
enhance the antitumor production by the isolated bacterial strain.
Seventy nine bacterial isolates were collected from different
coastal regions of Egypt during period from 2015 to 2016, using starch
casein agar and marine nutrient agar media. These isolates were tested
for antitumor activity using a preliminary screening test “Red Potato
Discs Bioassay”. After the two successive experiments to confirm the
antitumor activity of the tested bacterial isolates, it was found that the
most potent bacteria were MA3, RB4, MM7 and MA6 isolates. The
results confirmed that the highest activity percentage were 87.5%, 85%,
80% and 77.5%, respectively during 15 days incubation.
