Abstract

Abdominoplasty is one of the most common aesthetic procedures that have developed significantly over the past several years.
This study contains (thirty - two) cases suffering from sagging in the front area of the abdomen and accumulation of fat in the abdomen. They were divided into two groups.
The first group consists of 16 patients, which had a traditional tummy tuck. The second group had a suction of the abdominal fat and accompanied by synchronization with a tummy tuck.
All the cases in this study are women who did not perform any previous operations in the abdominal wall except Caesarean section. They do not suffer from chronic diseases (such as diabetes), non-smoker (Or stopped smoking for at least two weeks before the operation). Their average age is between (25y-55y).
In the first group, which had a traditional tummy tuck, the average age was 36.5 and the BMI was 34.5.
In the second group, which had a lipoabdominoplasty, the average age was (38.5), and the BMI was (36).
The incidence of morbidity complications in both groups was the same (25%) with four cases in each group; the incidence of complications did not increase by adding the suction procedure to the surgical tightening of the abdominal wall.
There were no serious complications in the study, such as venous thromboembolism or pulmonary embolism.
Details of the complications were as follows:
The first group (which had a traditional abdominoplasty procedure) included (sixteen cases); one of them suffering from a seroma, one case of bacterial infection, and two cases of delayed wound healing.
The second group (which had lipoabdominoplasty) included 16 cases, Including one case of seroma, one case of bacterial infection, and one case of delayed wound healing.
Cases of bacterial infection are treated for two weeks and were followed up with antibiotic and recovery was funded without the need for any surgical intervention.
As well as cases that suffered from delayed healing area wound was treated with continuous cleaning of the wound and using appropriate dressings and also without the need for any surgical intervention.
In conclusion, we concluded from this study that the addition of a procedure of liposuction of the abdominal fat to the traditional abdominoplasty at the same time is a safe surgical procedure and does not cause an increase in the incidence of complications.
This study is only a step to research the best surgical methods and to reduce the risk during the disposal of body fat by surgical methods to provide a better life.
