Abstract

this study was conducted for acrylic model with class III modification one to investigate and compare the retentive force of the Equipoise clasps and the Saddle lock clasps (as control group) by using digital force meter.
The frameworks of the bilateral partial dentures for each clasp design were constructed on the acrylic model. The 11 framework of each clasp design were from cobalt-chromium (Co-Cr) alloy. The undercut of 0.01 inch was the same for all clasps.
Results of this study showed that equipoise clasp design of mean retentive force (61.06 ± 3.52 N) had a significant higher retentive force than Saddle lock design of mean retentive force (44.54 ± 5.88 N). both clasp engage 0.01 undercut and constructed from the same material CO-CR alloy.
