Abstract This study aimed to evaluate the response of Datura stramonium to drought stress and studying the impact of biofertilizer treatment on the stressed plant.Plantlets of fifty days old were obtained from the farm of the Faculty of Pharmacy, Cairo University, where it was the source of Datura seeds as well.Datura stramonium plantlets were cultivated under different drought durations (two weeks, three weeks and four weeks water regime). In addition, to the above mentioned set, another set was cultivated under the same drought conditions but in addition to the different drought durations it was fertilized using a biofertilizer. The used biofertilizer is a mixture of a group of cyanobacteria and it was obtained from the National Institute Center of Research in Cairo. The other four sections, were the same, as the above mentioned, but combined with the biofertilizer and including a control group treated with the biofertilizer as well. Six samples were taken from each treatment monthly, till the end of the growing season. Some growth parameters and biochemical analysis measurements were determined. Growth parameters and pigment analysis were measured in the fresh plant after taking samples every month. |
