Abstract This thesis reported preparation, characterization and biodegradable application of nano polyvinyl alcohol membranes by preparation of crosslinked-PVA and cellulose nanocrystals that extracted from Ziziphus Spina-Christi (ZSC) and from Rice Husk (RH), membranes reinforced ZSC-CNCs, RH-CNCs and nanosilica with different ratio of weights. The spectral, thermal, mechanical, swelling properties and kinetic studies are discussed. The influence of various factors, such as time, solution pH, saline solutions, deswelling and the reswelling capability, on the swelling behavior of the membranes was also investigated. The prepared polymers, membranes and their cellulose nanocrystals and nanosilica were evaluated as antibacterial and antifungal agents. The UV Accelerated Weathering was used for carrying out the weathering test to determine the aging of the membranes. The biodegradability test was carried out to determine the weight loss of the membranes. |
