Abstract
Wooden objects covered with a layer of black resin represent a unique collection of wooden objects that are part of funerary furniture because of the religious connotations of the other world Especially in the royal objects as Tutankhamun, Yuya and Tuya, and other kings of the New kingdom state and other eras. But unfortunately there are a lot of wooden artifacts covered with a layer of black resin in a deplorable condition due to the deterioration of its condition and complex structure, which consists of more than a layer and the result of the existence of these wooden artifacts in different environmental conditions and changing the temperature and humidity and air pollution. They are subjected to many different deterioration factors, whether physical or chemical, leading to the emergence of many different manifestations of damage such as cracks and the separation and fall of layers of black resin and other aspects that sometimes reach the distortion of the shape of the artifacts. Therefore, there was an urgent need to study this type of wooden artifacts covered with the layer of black resin where the wooden artifacts covered with a layer of black resin have not been studied yet
The wooden artifacts which are covered with a layer of black resin will be studied, the history of its use and the reason for its use. The study will include field visits to identify the methods which were used in an application of black resin to funerary furniture and its knowledge of its composition by conducting investigation and analyses using the various scientific methods necessary for this study. And conducted an experimental study to assess the materials which were proposed for use in the restoration and preservation to choose the best methods of restoration and maintenance, which are applied to the coffin of the study and this will be studied in detail during scientific research.
