Abstract The aim of this research was to printing cotton fabrics with designs inspired by the abstract school with reactive dyes using printing pastes of different rheological properties. Different thickeners was used as Sodiume alginate, Carboxymethyl cellulose, Starch and British Gum. The color strength expressed as K/S of the printed samples was measured in addition to tensile strength. Washing, rubbing, perspiration and light fastness properties were evaluated. The rheological properties of used thickeners was also measured. This research can be represented in three parts; first part is the general part. It contains scientific review collected from scientific references that related to thesis topic. It consist of six chapters as follows: Chapter (1) Cotton fibers, Chapter (2) Reactive dyes, Chapter (3) Thickening Agents, Chapter (4) Rheology of print pastes, Chapter (5) Printing cotton fabrics with Reactive dyes, Chapter (6) Design of Hanging inspired by the Abstract school. The second part of the present research is the special part. It contains two chapters. The first chapter (experimental part) shows the methods of work and explain the experiments while the second chapter (results and discussion) consists of results of color measurement of printed samples. The third part contains different hanging designs inspired by the Abstract school. Some of these designs were printed by reactive dyes on cotton fabric using Sodiume alginate and CMC thickening agents. |
